Handling and Storage of Lyophilized Research Peptides

· Peptide Research, Quality & Testing

Protect the dry solid first

Most catalog peptides arrive lyophilized. In that state, the main risks are moisture, heat, and light. Keep unopened vials in the conditions your lab SOP specifies—commonly frozen for long-term storage and refrigerated for short-term holding. Bring a vial to working temperature before opening so condensation does not wet the cake.

After reconstitution

Once a peptide is in solution, stability is protocol-specific. Aliquot instead of freeze-thawing a single working stock. Record solvent, concentration, date, and lot. Discard solutions that were prepared outside the window your method allows. These are laboratory handling rules, not use instructions for people or animals.

Shipping packaging (insulation, cold packs when used) is meant to protect transit, not to replace your freezer once the parcel is received. Log receipt time and storage location with the lot.
